Smart people make smart technology and the Phone Watchdog App for Android, and soon to be iPhone, is just proof of that. The genius of this application is that it "teaches" your phone to set up an innovative security protocol, just like the vigilant watchdog who appears on your main screen. When the phone goes missing, as missing it might go, by theft or misplacement, the application can then receive orders to carry out tasks that would identify its whereabouts using Sattelite and GPS technologies. The phone can be commanded to send an SMS in which it will state its location, or it can be asked to take a photo using the front camera and email the picture to a pre-designated email address. You can command the phone remotely to ring loudly, in case it is lying around somewhere within hearing distance. And, in case you have sensitive information, you can command your phone to delete all its contacts and to reformat the SD card, wiping out any of those sensitive materials and photos you wouldn't want going viral on Youtube. The coolest thing about this alarm system though, is that should your phone experience a "sim change," it will automatically alert five of your nominated nearest and dearest via SMS. With phone theft not looking like it is going to relent any time soon, WatchDog is a perfect armament against thieves. And it also has some more sly applications too, if you think about it.
