Proof Recorder v1.8
You are in a car accident, the other driver is at fault and first confesses but later denies his fault and you have no way to prove it.
Your boss invites you to his office and treats you most irrespectfully and it is your word against his if you want to take it up with people higher up in the hierarchy.
You are a victim of abuse and violence from law enforcement but you have done nothing wrong.
You were a victim of sexual harassment and need some proof to file a complaint.
In all these situations, it would have been great if you could have whipped out your phone and recorded the proceedings. Obviously, enabling a voice recorder in these circumstances would be nearly impossible. The Proof app is the solution.
This app is designed to secretly record in the background without interruption 24/7 and automatically erase recordings according to your preferences. If you have experienced something that you wish to keep on record, simply "stop" the recording and the last files recorded will be kept on your device.
Features:
- Secretly record in the background (no notifications or visible clues).
- Start recording automatically at startup.
- Partition your recordings into mutliple files of given length based on your preferences (from 1 minute to 15 minutes).
- Keep only a given number of files and erase the oldest ones based on your preferences (up to 10 files).
- Choose the format of the recording and the bit rate (quality).
- Automatic restart of the recording even if the app is force closed or removed from the task manager.
- Automatic pause of the recording in case you receive a call.
- Files sored in the /Proof/ directory on your device's storage.
- Possibility to set a time that matches your alarm clock schedule to pause recording for 15 minutes (the time you wake up, give or take a few "snoozes") as some alarm apps do not start if the phone is recording audio.
- No advertising.
Tips:
- You can find the recorded files in the /Proof/ folder of your device's storage.
- Recording in the background can be a strain on the battery life. The longer the length of your individual recordings, the more battery it will drain. Partitioning your recordings into 1 minute individual files will result in the lowest battery drain, whereas 15 minutes individual files will cause heavy battery drain. Choose your settings wisely!
- Keep in mind that this app takes control of your microphone. If you need to use it to do a voice search, send a voice message via an app or record a video with your camera app, you will need to disable the recording first.
- If the recording process is stopped (for instance if it was killed by Android) and restarted, the last files will not be deleted. You will have to delete them manually. Since the app operates secretely, it has to continuously fight against the Android system especially when in sleep mode as the system attempts to kill any process taking up resources and cpu.
Permissions:
- "Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage" is necessary in order to save/delete the recordings to your device.
- "Run at startup" is required in order to start the recording when you turn on your device.
- "Read phone state" is required to be able to pause and resume the recording when you receive/make a call.
- "Record audio" is necessary to, well... record the audio!
- "Wake lock" is to help the app to keep running.
Disclaimer:
- This app is designed to keep an audio record of accidents or other traumatising experiences that may result in legal proceedings and require an element of proof. It is not to be used to trick friends into disclosing secrets, embarassing your friends or family, or cyberbully others. Keep in mind that any misuse of this app may get you in legal trouble (see laws on privacy and data protection). We are not responsible for any misuse of this app.
