I really want a replacement to Google's mail app, and K9 ain't it. But it looks like MailDroid isn't it, either.

There are so many silly problems with the program that I cannot even get started with it, and this is my second time trying. The first time, with v0.93, was a non-starter, as manual configuration wasn't an option.

v0.95 is even more frustrating. It has manual configuration, but it probably won't work for most users that need it (and didn't work for me). For example, let's say my email is xxx@domain.tld. My provider uses xxx_domain.tld as my user name. This is a very common scheme that i've seen with multiple mail providers.

MailDroid tried to be smart, and it tries to guess your user name... incorrectly. You can use your email address, or the part before the @sign, but nothing arbitrary. How about just letting us enter it if we want to?

Other annoyances include the application not remembering the contents of configuration fields if it cannot validate something. Make one typo in your password? You'll need to re-enter everything.

Folks, I'm real happy to PAY for a great email app - but I'd really like a chance to actually use it, first.
