You can destroy your obstacles with your LASER!!! This is because this is no ordinary penguin - he was placed here by aliens, and this is why he can change colors and wear hats- the other penguins didn't believe him, and this is why he must actually run this race, even though they told him it was a right of passage, which it really wasn't, they just wanted to make sure that he wasn't kidding and also to see him fire his laser, since the lives of ordinary penguins are boring, so they just wanted some excitement in their lives, you know.
So, over the course of many many years, the penguins used slave labor to construct the race track to test our wanna-be alien penguin, and if he happened to be telling the truth - they would make him their King!
