In this book, Joe and his faithful dog, Wishbone track down a mysterious burglar who breaks into the used-book store where Joe is working for the summer. Soon the duo learn that the intruder is interested in more than just stealing books. Soon, the situation becomes a test of canine brawns and brains against the cunning might of Jack Brisco-with Wishbone winning in the end.
